Giving back to our Community: Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute
LaGree Associates is celebrating 20 years of business this month and we know we would not be here without the support of our community. With that in mind we would love to take the time to feature an organization in Oklahoma that is very near and dear to our hearts.
The Oklahoma Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain is the state’s Official School of the Arts. As an Altus native, Jim LaGree grew up knowing first hand the impact this organization has had all over the state. Our firm believes that supporting this organization is beneficial for the young people of our state, and in turn benefits us all. We have detailed a little bit about this organization below and we encourage everyone to explore what this wonderful Institute does for our State.
The Oklahoma Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide exceptional multidisciplinary arts experiences that develop individual talent and inspire a lifelong passion for the arts. Since 1977, the Oklahoma Arts Institute has recruited nationally renowned artists to teach a fine arts program for talented Oklahoma youth ages 13 through 18 and a series of continuing education workshops for adults. All programs are held at the Quartz Mountain Arts and Conference Center in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute is an intensive, two-week academy in the literary, visual, and performing arts for Oklahoma’s most talented high school students. Students are selected through a competitive statewide audition process, and every accepted student automatically receives a scholarship to attend covering most expenses upon arrival for the camp. Auditions begin in January. Typically, over 1,200 auditions occur for the two hundred and fifty (250) placements. This is such a value opportunity for the students financially and for personal growth.
The program’s multidisciplinary structure sets the Summer Arts Institute apart from other arts programs in the nation. The disciplines include acting, chorus, creative writing, dance, drawing and painting, orchestra and photograph. There will be thirty-one instructors from around the United States, each successful in their respective discipline. What an opportunity.
The Oklahoma Fall Arts Institute is a series of four-day weekend workshops for educators and adult artists of all ability levels. Instruction is offered in the literary, visual, and performing arts, including workshops tailored to educators, who can receive full scholarships to the program. The adult program is October 4 through 7, 2018. Over 50,000 Oklahoma public school children are reached each year through their teachers’ attendance at the Fall Institute.
Oklahoma Arts Institute is an opportunity for you to give financially supporting Oklahoma’s talented upcoming young adults. I ask your favorable consideration for a donation to OAI. Click Here for the Link to Donate.
